Works for the section between Warrigal Road and Jacksons Road commenced in October 2007 and were completed in August 2009.
Negri Contractors constructed this section, which involves:
- Constructing an additional lane in each direction. The extra lanes will be provided in the centre of the existing freeway, which means no land acquisition was required for this section.
- Widening of the Ferntree Gully Road bridge
- Additional pier protection at several bridges
- Landscaping.
The entire Monash-CityLink-West Gate upgrade project is scheduled for completion in late 2010.

Major construction

Works will occur in the centre median area to construct the additional lane in each direction. Widening of the Ferntree Gully Road bridge will also take place.
To ensure the safety of construction workers and road users, traffic barriers will be installed in the inner lanes to provide a safety buffer for workers. Traffic will use the resurfaced emergency shoulder as a third traffic lane.
Works will occur in sections to reduce traffic impacts.

Line marking, asphalting and finishing works

With the new lanes now constructed, asphalting and new line marking will take place. Traffic management will be removed and the new lane in each direction open to traffic.
Landscaping works will also occur at this time.

Construction working hours
Construction hours for this worksite are Monday to Friday from 7am to 5.30pm and Saturday 7am to 3pm. Some work may occur outside these hours subject to strict approval conditions. Residents will be notified in advance of out of hours work.
