The Monash-CityLink-West Gate upgrade is a project that will improve traffic flow and safety along one of the State’s busiest routes.

The M1 upgrade is a partnership between VicRoads and Transurban. Works will include widening sections of the road between Williamstown and Dandenong, improving entry/exit points and introducing a new intelligent freeway management system from Werribee to Narre Warren that will revolutionise how traffic flows.

Over 160,000 vehicles, including up to 20,000 heavy freight vehicles, use the Monash Freeway, CityLink and the West Gate Freeway each day, causing congestion and slowing travel time for passengers and freight.

The Monash-CityLink-West Gate upgrade is just one part of the State Government's action plan to improve Victoria's transport system.
